UFBI will host a virtual panel discussion on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 12:00PM -1:00PM, on the role of professional scientific societies in fighting racism and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. We will focus on the new NSF LEAPS BIO program: LEAding cultural change through Professional Societies (LEAPS) of Biology. Guests will include NSF Program Officer Dan Marenda and PIs of three of the LEAPS projects funded during the first year of the program: DaJoie Croslan (AIBS), Mary Williams (ASPB), and Veronica Segarra (American Society for Cell Biology). Plan to join us to learn what some societies are doing, how the work can be expanded to other societies, and how the efforts of these societies may provide models for our institutions.
